The TradeGecko alternative
We built TradeGecko. Intuit bought it in 2020 and renamed it QuickBooks Commerce. On August 31, 2023, they shut it down. If you're reading this, you're probably one of the operators left looking for somewhere to land, and you're wary of backing another tool that gets sold and switched off. Fair. Order3 is the inventory and purchasing software we're building now, and the short version is we're not selling it. The longer version is below: what we learned building the first one, and what we deliberately changed.
Look elsewhere if
- You need deep multichannel commerce sync across marketplaces and EDI, and Cin7's channel catalog is built for that
- You manufacture and need bills of materials and production scheduling. Katana and Fishbowl are built for that work
- You want a full ERP rollout and have the appetite for it. NetSuite or Odoo are the heavier answer
- Your books and inventory are simple enough that QuickBooks Online's native inventory still covers you
- You only sell on Shopify and Shopify's built-in inventory does the job

Switching
Migrating from TradeGecko

If you still have your QuickBooks Commerce or TradeGecko CSV exports, start there. Items, variants, suppliers, locations, and stock levels all import into Order3

TradeGecko's product variants and pricing tiers need restructuring into Order3's item and location model. Most teams use the import as a chance to fix locations that drifted

Sales orders and fulfillment history don't map cleanly. Bring current open orders and leave historical orders in the export as an archive

If you've been running on a spreadsheet stopgap since the shutdown, import that instead. The spreadsheet is usually more current than a 2023 export

Is there a TradeGecko alternative?
Yes, several, and we're biased toward one. Order3 is what the TradeGecko team is building now. If you want options beyond us, Cin7 covers multichannel commerce, Katana and Fishbowl cover manufacturing, and Odoo is the full-ERP route if you want a heavier rollout. The right pick depends on which piece of TradeGecko you actually used. This page is honest about where each fits.
Why did QuickBooks Commerce (TradeGecko) shut down?
Intuit acquired TradeGecko in 2020 and rebranded it QuickBooks Commerce, then decided to fold commerce features into QuickBooks Online rather than keep it as a standalone product. They announced the sunsetting in 2022 and discontinued it on August 31, 2023. We didn't make that call and we can't undo it. What we can do is keep building what those operators lost.
Is Order3 made by the same people who made TradeGecko?
Yes. Order3 is built by the team that built TradeGecko, including the co-founders. We're not licensing the name or buying the code. We started over, kept what worked, and changed what we spent years wishing we could change. The biggest change is the one you can't see in a feature list: the company isn't for sale.
Can I import my old TradeGecko or QuickBooks Commerce data?
Yes, from CSV. Items, variants, suppliers, locations, and stock levels come across. Sales order history and some of the commerce-specific config don't map cleanly, so bring open orders and archive the rest. If you've been on a spreadsheet since the shutdown, import that instead; it's usually more current than a 2023 export. We help with the mapping during onboarding.
Is Order3 cheaper than TradeGecko was?
TradeGecko's published tiers don't exist anymore, so a price chart would be meaningless. Order3 is free for small workspaces and published plans start at $99 a month; pricing is on the site, no call required. If budget is the deciding factor, tell us your team size and location count and we'll answer honestly, including whether you'd be better off with a different tool.
What did Order3 change from the original TradeGecko?
A few things, and the biggest ones aren't features. Purchasing used to flag low stock and leave you to write the PO; now it drafts the PO with lead time, open POs, and safety stock shown, then waits for approval. Every AI-drafted change and spend action passes a human gate with an audit trail. And we start from the operator who can't trust the count rather than the commerce seller, so floor counts and transfers come first. We dropped the marketplace and POS surface TradeGecko grew into.
