What to expect when you switch

Start with one campus or one department. A few days to import the asset list, label rooms, and walk a campus with the app. Involve an IT lead, a principal or department head, and an admin in the first month. Plan the first device audit under Order3 during a natural reset point: end of year, start of year, or a major refresh cycle. Today, deep SIS or specific district-management-system integrations are not part of v1.

Can we assign devices to specific students?

Yes. Devices assign to a student or staff member with a scan. The activity history preserves the assignment for the school year. At year-end, returns scan in and any unreturned devices surface as exceptions. For districts handling student data carefully, talk to us about how device assignment fields are stored before adopting. We do not make specific student-data-privacy compliance claims.

How does it handle annual asset audits?

Annual audits become a phone or scanner walk-through of each room or location. As items scan, the audit list updates in real time. Anything missing surfaces as an exception that can be investigated rather than guessed at. Most schools that adopt this workflow see audit time drop significantly versus a paper-and-spreadsheet process. The resulting record is cleaner for state and district reporting.

Can departments and labs request supplies through it?

Yes. Department staff and lab managers request stock from central storage through the mobile app or web. An admin or department head approves before fulfillment. Inbox chaos drops. Central operations gets a real view of demand patterns by building and department. Order3 isn't a procurement suite. For complex multi-step purchasing approvals across district or university levels, plan a conversation about fit.

Does it integrate with our SIS or district management system?

Direct integrations with specific SIS or district management systems are not part of v1. Today's pattern: use Order3 for inventory and devices, with export-based or webhook sync to whatever student information system the district runs. As approved connectors expand, deeper integrations roll out. On PowerSchool or Infinite Campus? Ask us about current state.

How is it different from a school-specific inventory tool?

School-specific tools often lock you into education-only data models and limited workflows. Order3 is general inventory software with multi-location, scanning, and AI-assisted reorder. It fits the breadth of school inventory (devices, lab supplies, athletic equipment, janitorial, food service) without forcing each into a school-specific shape. Trade-off: Order3 isn't designed around specific district reporting templates. Reports are general-purpose.

Is Order3 compliant with student data privacy laws?

Today, we do not make specific compliance claims for FERPA, COPPA, state student-data-privacy laws, or specific district vendor agreements. The product is built for inventory and asset data, not for student records. If your workflow ties student records into inventory in ways that introduce protected data, talk to us before adopting.
